Hi all
On these cold mornings, I am in need of the heated seats!!
Mine don't ever seem to warm up (though the light on the switch comes on) so I was wondering how I can bypass the thermostat. If I am reading the wiring diagram correct, the thermostat is part of the heating element system and not the switch?
Does anybody know how easy it is to locate and if the thermostat is the most likely cause of them not working. Do you think it can be done without removing the whole seat?

The thermostat is part of the heating mats, so it's located in your seat.
In order to bypass it, you will need to disassemble you seats...

Prolly not the thermo that's broken. Most of the times it's a loose contact in the heating mat itself. Easy to solder it back on. The bad part is you have to remove the clothing from the seat AND puitting it back together. It's doable, just remove the seat and take it inside so you can work at it in the warm.
New mats are still available from the dealer for around €55. Or buy a general one from an automotive shop, those are cheaper and get a lot warmer than the original ones. The thermo on the Volvo one are set to work only from outside temperatures below 14c (I think) and don't get warmer than 25c.

I must have a look at mine. Mine were working fine last year when I was using her, but then she was sat for those 6 months, and since I got her back my seat warmer hasnt worked!! 
It could just be that it wasnt below that set temperature, but I am pretty sure it worked before at any temperature so long as i pressed the button!!
Anyone got any diagrams of the removal of the heating mat/material? Its not gonna be a job of unstitch and re-sew is it?

... I found one day.. It was yesterday!
The wires connecting to the heater element had broken off on the back heater. Tested the thermostat which was located in the bum heater, by putting it in the freezer then testing the circuit.
I did this as i'd ordered a new seat flip cable / mechanism from volvo. Turns out I don't need it now as mine had just come apart. So thats annoying.

have a couple of days ago repaired my seats, unsure how much / avalibility of the volvo elements are. instead did it for £15!
if your intrested in how i did this i will write a "how to" for "how to replace heated seat elements on the cheap!"
thats if your elements are wasted though (and the thermostst is ok!)
